Bamboo Craft Pad Review

As a mother who loves doing freelance graphics design work and just playing around with designs, I was so excited when I got the opportunity to review the Bamboo Craft Pad. I have always day dreamed about the bamboos, and I have always wanted to know how they work. I never quite understood how they worked until I received one.

The Bamboo has many features that are amazing. Each with their own purposes. It almost seems like there are no improvements needed but one – but I will tell you about that near the end.

These were my favorite features – I may miss some because there are tons but these stuck out to me the most.

  • Navigation and Gestures

This is the part that is amazing to me; I am a person who normally uses a laptop touch pad. So any chance I have to use “touch” to navigate what I am doing I will take it. With the Bamboo it is just like a laptop touchpad, just much bigger, and I love it. Another great thing built in to the Bamboo are the “gestures” now if you have ever used a Mac  laptop, you know what gestures are and I am sure you know how great they are. But if you haven’t, gestures are movements you do with your fingers on the touch pad (or in this case – the Bamboo) that makes your images/web pages zoom in or out, scroll your page, rotate pictures or go backwards and forwards. This makes using a touch pad all the more fun. Using these features makes like so much more fun, designing or not.

  • Two types of pen sensors

When I first used the Bamboo I thought I would always have to have the pen to the surface to draw or write, but that is not the case. In some instances, such as moving your mouse, all you have to do is hover the pen over the pad and it follows your every move. It is like the future if you ask me!

  • Using the pad on a Mac, to recognize your handwriting and not having to type.

I have more than one type of computer in my house and one of them being a Mac, my husband and I were testing out the Bamboo and playing with it and we found out that there are certain settings you can turn on, which allow you to write everything instead of type. I love this feature, when I am chatting on AIM I can just write it out using the Bamboo and it types it for me. This is probably one of the most interesting parts about the Bamboo.

There are tons of other nice things about the Bamboo; it comes with Photoshop Elements 7.0/Win and two other very cool programs that can do things like turn your pictures into paintings. The Bamboo only has one bad point, and it really is not a big deal it is just worth mentioning. It does not work on net books, which is one of my other computers. I honestly do not think net books are powerful enough to support the Bamboo, because let’s face it… Bamboos are epic!

Here and now, I recommend the Bamboo to anyone and everyone who has a passion to graphic design, digital scrapbooking and other digital art works. There are many different kinds of Bamboo’s; they do not need to be as extravagant as the one I am using. But believe me... you will love it!

This product was provided for me to review, no other compensation was received.
