How dare she tell me to “Shh!”?

I am sure you mothers out there know about the terrible twos, well my daughter is just starting to enter this phase.

The hitting, biting, screaming, running away, throwing tantrums, and expecting to get everything she wants–phase.

Well my daughter is adding something quite annoying to this list, putting her finger to my mouth and telling me to “Shh!”

At first, I thought it was really cute. But now I am getting quite sick of it, so I knew I had to blog about it. But of course she is way too smart to let me catch it on camera–little stinker child!

Now every time I try to put her in her high chair, she tells me to “Shh!” Every time I try to get her to lay down to change a diaper, she says “Shh!”

(Here is the generic photo to represent my point)

Hopefully soon, this phase will–well–phase out! But until then I will have to take advantage of the things that she still does that are cute and priceless–like taking a “dow-ooh” (shower) and watching “Gabbuh!” (Yo! Gabba Gabba!)

Until the day comes where the shushing ends–pray there is a Yo! Gabba Gabba marathon on Nick Jr.

  1. Girl, u are not alone! My 3 year old daughter is a “Shusher” too! She has always been very sassy (which Im told she’s just like her mom) and she has started doing the exact thing your daughter does, except she usually does it when me or her daddy is getting on to her. She’ll interrupt us telling her no, with a big “Shhhh!!” Ahhhh!!!! Drives me crazy, but in a way it cracks me up too, but I sure can’t let her know that!

  2. I have found that I have to COMPLETELY ignore my son when he picks up a new habit like that, so that he doesn’t keep it up for EVER. Right now, his favorite is, “Nice try!” whenever I try to do anything. Or, “You so excited” when he goes pee on the potty. LOL. Those aren’t so annoying, but the others, like the shhshing, I had to just completely ignore. If he sees even a hint of a smile, he will keep it up until I can’t see straight.
